Bell 230



Republic Helicopters operates a Bell 230, twin engine turbine powered helicopter. Due to its speed and comfort, the Bell 230 is the preferred ride.

The Bell 230 is equipped as follows:
  • Two Rolls Royce Allison 250 C30G2 engines
  • Transport Category A Certified (see details below)
  • Auto Pilot
  • Traffic Collision and Avoidance and Detection System
  • Digital Weather Radar
  • Certified for Single Pilot IFR operations under FAR 135
  • Emergency flotation gear
  • Environment Control Unit (heating and air conditioning)
  • GPS
  • VOR/ILS and integrated EFIS including weather radar
  • Radar Altimeter
  • Intercom
  • Marine Band Radio
  • Popout windows
  • 9 passenger seats available (for offshore ops, generally 6 passenger max)
  • Large baggage compartment (500 lb max and 37.5 cubic feet)

The cruise speed of the Bell 230 is 155 miles per hour. The maximum gross weight of the Bell 230 is 8400 lbs

Category A/Category B Operations

Cat A means the aircraft has demonstrated ability to lose one engine, and at gross weight, be able to continue the flight. (means that the helicopter can lose one engine and continued flight to destination is assumed)

Cat B means the aircraft has no guaranteed stay up ability in the event of engine failure and unscheduled landing is assumed.
